Richard E Dunn, DVM

Dr Dunn

Dr. Dunn was born and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida.  He graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Biology in 1977, and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 1981.  Following graduation he worked in a mixed animal practice in Monroe, NC before returning to Florida to work in a mixed animal practice in Belleview, FL.  Dr. Dunn and his wife Diana started Countryside Animal Clinic in 1984 in the old Beverly Hills shopping plaza.  The practice grew and they were able to build the current building 10 years later.

Dr. Dunn and Diana have three children who grew up with the clinic.  They have 3 dogs (Caesar, Cleo & Lucy), three cats (Oscaretta, Quasimodo, Curious George) and Merlin, the South American Redfoot tortoise.

Dr. Dunn's hobbies include fishing, reading, exercising and spending time with the family.  He has a multitude of fond clinic memories, but some of his favorites are helping animals with unusual problems, like the cow that was shot by a bow and arrow, retrieving a needle from a cat's stomach non-surgically, reversing a cat in renal failure, helping a dog hit by lightening and treating a traveling circus elephant for pneumonia.

Jennifer K Hooper, DVM

Dr Hooper

Dr. Jenny Hooper, and her husband Dr. Andy Hooper, both grew up in central Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana for both undergraduate and vet school.  They moved to Ocala in 1993 so that she could complete an internship in medicine and surgery at Peterson & Smith, PA Equine Hospital.  They loved the area so much that she and Andy decided to stay after the one year internship.

Dr. Hooper moved to Citrus County and joined the Countryside Animal Clinic team in 1994.  Ethan, their first child, joined the Hooper family in 2004, followed by Zach in 2006.

Dr. Hooper has been lucky to own a large variety of animals through the years.  A Quarter horse, pony, black Angus cattle, cats, dogs and rabbits are some of her previous pets.  The Hooper family currently has two cats, who allow them to live in their house.

Dr. Hooper's hobbies are biking, gardening, antiques and numerous kid activities.  Her favorite clinic memories have been meeting some amazing pets and people through the years.  Delivering newborn kittens, puppies, foals and kids (goats) are one of the best parts of her job!
