Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring

Anesthesia and patient monitoring varies greatly among clinics. When you choose your veterinarian, be sure to question the types of anesthetics used and the protocols for monitoring anesthesia. Often the more expensive anesthetics are safer to use; however, anesthetics are also chosen for other reasons including their ability to control pain.

At Countryside Animal Clinic, we use state-of-the-art equipment to provide safe, dependable anesthesia and monitoring of surgical patients.

We strive to provide the best possible care for your loved ones.  At Countryside Animal Clinic every patient:

• is examined by a doctor before being admitted for surgery;
• is screened with pre-surgical bloodwork prior to surgery;
• receives I.V. fluids during surgery to support blood pressure and speed recovery;
• is monitored by a Certified Veterinary Technician during surgery;
• receives an injection for pain to minimize discomfort after surgery;
• is provided with surgical tables that are heated to minimize patient heat loss during surgery;
• receives ECG heart and blood oxygen monitoring during surgery;
• awakens from anesthesia in heated, comfortable recovery cubicles which are centrally located and continually monitored;
• is carefully and continually monitored by an experienced Animal Care Nurse who documents your pet's recovery.
